OpusClip

OpusClip takes a long video and returns the ten moments worth posting, cut vertical, captioned and reframed. It is the default in a category it largely created.

What it does well

Moment selection. The virality score is imperfect but it is genuinely better than picking clips yourself at 11pm, and the auto-reframe tracks the speaker properly instead of cropping to the centre of the frame and hoping.

Captions are accurate out of the box, including on accented speech, and the brand templates mean clips look like yours rather than like everyone else's.

What it costs

The free plan gives a small monthly minute allowance with watermarks. Paid tiers start around $9 to $29 a month depending on billing period and minutes, with the higher plans adding longer uploads, team seats and export quality.

Where it falls short

It cannot find a good clip in a bad recording. Rambling, unstructured video produces rambling, unstructured clips, and the tool will confidently score them. Caption styling is more limited than a real editor. Minutes are consumed on upload rather than on export, so a two-hour podcast costs you two hours whether you keep one clip or ten.

Who it's for

Podcasters and long-form YouTubers who already have a back catalogue, plus agencies running creator accounts. If you do not produce long-form video, there is nothing here for you. If you have two hundred hours sitting unused, this is the fastest way to turn it into a feed.
